I am a member of the Norfolk & Western Historical Society. It doesn't really count, but hey...

I thoroghly enjoy reading this page. It is a GREAT source of knowledge and vast amounts of information in every part of the preservation industry.

If you want to know the whereabouts of a Baldwin pacific in Brazil or what paperwork is need to get monies to restore a Baldwin pacific in brazil, this is the place.

It's good to see everyone trying to work towards a common goal. I rarely post, unless it's something I feel I can add to. Keep up the fantastic jobs you all are doing in this industry. Every little thing counts!

It's great to see everyone sharing what works and what doesn't. I just wish I had time to visit more often.

Wayne Laepple, Northumberland, PA
I've been involved in preservation in one form or another since 1963 when I first volunteered at the WK&S, have done it for money at the Magee Transportation Museum, worked in the shortline railroad business for 18 years, now back to doing it as a hobby, volunteering once a month or so in the shop at Steamtown on the 1361 project, and going to Maine a couple of times a year to build track at the WW&F Railway Museum.

Francis,

Times change. The Wednesday evening gatherings ended when the nominal host's mother (whose place the gathering was at) moved into a retirement apartment. The evenings with slides and friends are missed by many who experienced them.

How days members still gather to plan for the museum; but it is done quite differently. The place grows and changes and so does how the planning is done. Now we have the officers meeting once a month over a mid-week supper to exchange information and needs. On non-board meeting Saturday evenings there are other groups that meet at the museum. On one night its the physical plant foremen, on another it is the collection foremen, and the plublicity group even has a potluck dinner. These meetings likwise are used to exchnage information and needs. And then there are the evening discussions over diner or around the firepit.

While I'm a member of the Illinois Railway Museum, the National Transportation Museum, the East Troy Museum and Fox River Valley Museum, I'm also in CERA and Midwest Electric Railfans Assn.

My main function is as consulting editor for the National Railway Bulletin (NRHS). I was the editor until my health got in the way.

I've posted many querries and have gotten many replies from knowledgeable individuals who would be inaccessible to me without this forum.

As a result, many articles that we will be publishing will have far more accuracy and much less "legend."

While registered on over 20 forums, I check this one frequently. The quality of information from the members is beyond calculation. I can't say thanks enough to everybody who has helped in the past.

Im Alan Dickerson, and Im a willing volunteer. There is no steam in Louisiana and nothing near me. However if it wasnt for Mr. Blair Lavell and Roger Graham at the Texas State Railroad I wouldnt have the exposure I have had. Someday I will be part of a steam crew, somewhere. Maybe I'll have to start my own!

Thats me, thumbs up.
