Alex Huff, Pres. (big title, small railroad) of Dakota Southern Rwy. Commercial operation but much of our equipment is old enough to warrant preservation! Recently was hanging the main wings back on a 1928 vintage Jordan spreader. Still have one piece of equipment with K brakes.

Gary Landrio, VP Rail Operations, Stone Consulting & Design. Having operated four railroads and been involved in helping other rail operations as a consultant for the last 13 years. I find that rarely is there a day that I do not learn something useful from reading the posts on this web site. There is no way that any one person can learn everything about all the various knowledge areas of railroads and tourism. The best that you can hope for is to learn who to ask for the correct answers.

I am Doug Shearer. I have been working with the Northern Pacific Railway Museum in Toppenish, WA, since its beginning 13 years ago. I have worked with a number of the restoration projects and serve on the board of directors. I also do the website for the group. There are other members of our group who read the rypn site regularly.

I am assis. op. mgr and procurement person with Sumpter Valley Ry. I also work on the operating crew and am also a member of the Friends of the C&TS. I just returned from a 2 and a half hour drive from the RR after spending the day there on assorted tasks. One of my first tasks on returning home is to check out this board to see what has been posted. I find it very informative!

I have seen posts from at least four other OERM volunteers. Rypn gets discussed regularly at our museum. See Profile (and add yours while you're at it.)

RyPN is HOME for my browser and so everytime I logon, it is the first thing on my screen and I check the briefs and interchange.

Heber Valley Historic Railroad Authority has two of us volunteers that post with some regularity. You will see postings from the CMO, John Rimmasch, on points that he finds important (typically organizing and motivating volunteers and offers of help to technical questions).

BTW, my son reports that HVRR received two steel D&RGW boxcars last Saturday. Hope to have them ready for this winter's Photo Freight.

Those of you attending TRAIN (wishin' I was there--but some of us gotta keep bread on the table) please keep us updated on the goings on.

Howard Pincus
Trustee, Railroad Museum of New England, Thomaston CT
President, Naugatuck Railroad Co., Thomaston, CT (common-carrier operating subsidiary of RMNE)

Started working on this stuff 32 years ago at Black River & Western (CNJ coach #1158).

And, as J. David said, this is the most useful rail-oriented site on the web, as far as I'm concerned. Thanks for doing this, Hume and Eric!!!

I am a member of the Pacific Locomotive Association/Niles Canyon Railway and usually check RYPN two or three times a week. I am involved in the mechanical department working mainly on steam locomotives but also as time allows our diesels and cars. Many members of our organization (including several others in the mechanical and car departments) read this website including a couple board members.

I don't usually post messages as there are many knowledgeable people on this website who have much more experience than I do. Thank you all for the information and the great website. I think this site is an important part of the railroad preservation movement as it helps spread ideas/knowledge from across the country that everyone would not have without website.
