I read this board every day as well, and am a firm believer in Marty's comment above as well. I've learned much more "listening" as it were, then giving my opinion. A wise man once told me that's it better to keep ones mouth shut and have them think your stupid then open it and remove all doubt. ;-) Anyway, I'm T.J. Gaffney, Curator of Collections at the Port Huron Museum in Port Huron, Michigan. As far as rail-related elements of our museum, our Thomas Edison Depot Museum satellite facility is in a 1858-built C.D. & C.G.T. Jct. R.R. depot, which is dedicated more to Edison's boyhood here then to rail heritage per-say. Our two pieces of equipment include an 1870's-vintage Chicago & Grand Trunk wooden combine (repaired at the Fort Gratiot Car Shops in 1891) and an 1878-built 2-4-0 Porter of the Port Huron & Northwestern (narrow-gauge predecessor to the Pere Marquette).

Art Miller, owner of Rail Transportation Management Specialists, PA., Alabaster, AL. I am the owner of the largest group of Railroad Coordinators serving the film/video tape/music production industry. I regularly view this BB for information on equipment restoration projects; tourist railroad industry information; to keep in touch with rail industry developments; and occasionally to recruit rail-savvy personnel for special projects. Our firm's website, www.rtms-movietrains.com , is under renovation. But even now, with some titles and information not in place and a couple of spelling and grammatical errors, it may be of interest to RYPN contributors.

The people who make meaningful contributions to RYPN often are those actively involved in railroad preservation, in getting their hands dirty, "in turning the crank" as Robert Soule likes to say...and without them, I would be in a real pinch for historical equipment and film locations.

C. Kevin McCabe, President of Illinois Railway Museum, engineer and fireman on Frisco 1630 (2-10-0) and J. Neils Lumber 5 (3T Shay), and--in the real world--trial attorney specializing in railroad and aviation defense. Others from IRM who often are on this board include Barb Lamphier (our First VP), Randy Hicks (CA&E rebuilder), and Frank Hicks (editor of our newsletter).

Hey, Kevin....thanks for listing us....but Curator of the Strahorn Library--IRM and first VP Barb spells her name 'Lanphier'...with an 'n'! I'm a fussy old school teacher--retired! And I learn a great deal by reading and listening; you'll typically find me posting only when I find something that requires clarification [but I read the board at least twice--and sometimes three times a day.]

I'm Kenneth Cotton,General Superindentant of the Austin and Texas Central Railroad, operated by the Austin Steam Train Association. I come here almost every day to try to pick up as much information as I can,and hopefully impart some knowledge to others. This is truly the best site on the web for our vocation, and hopefully the dialouge will continue.

First, I check the board nightly and it is by far the best place to go for advice or words of encouragement.

Secondly, I'm the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the NJ Museum of Transportation, Inc/Pine Creek Railroad. Been a trustee for 8 years, a member for 30 years and a NJ lisenced steam locomotive engineer for 20 years. Also keep a smal live steam shop in the basement and play with MGs to round things out.

I'm an infrequent poster, but I like to check in regularly to catch up on what's going on and pick up some great technical tidbits, too.

I'm Steve Zarick, an apprentice in the Middletown and Hummelstown's fledgling steam program, and a qualified passenger and freight conductor on that line as well.

During the week I am a curator at the San Francisco Maritime National Park. Ships and trains are both big artifacts!

I'm Jack Franklin, General Manager of the East Troy Electric Railroad, and I visit this site nearly every day.

There is a wealth of info available, and reasonable discussion. I urge all concerned museum members to post and read.
