Hi

Can anyone help with drawings for the EMD GM10B electric loco. A demonstrator built in 1976.

Drawings very hard to locate. Maybe from a manual or advertising brochure ?

Thankyou

There was a set of drawings in the Railroad Model Craftsman magazine somewhere between 1976 and 1980 (I believe) Also additional pix and article. The drawings were pretty much broadsides, but it's a start. Later on I also saw a model built based on the drawings.

Hi

Thanks for reply. The article was on the GM6C and no drawing for the GM10B. Also an article in Rails NorthEast but no drawing.

I will keep trying, has to be out there somewhere.

Does that help?

I guess that's the GM6C (sorry, site I found it on was in Portuguese) but it looks like the 6C shares most of the carbody with the 10C:

Hi

Wow. Thanks for the drawings of GM6C, have not seen those ones before.

With the photos of the GM10B I have difficulty in working out the different doors etc with the white color and my bad eyes.

I would be overjoyed if I could find drawings like those ones for the GM6C of the GM10B. Will keep searching.

Thanks for your help

Regards

Whatever happened to both engines...I assume they both became razor blades but there's always the possibility. Looking at the 10B it looks like it could pull amazingly well.
What was the tractive effort?

Hi

Nice photo. Sad to see history going to pieces like that. Should have been retained in a museum. I suppose money was the problem.

I remember seeing both of them, during various EMD open houses. the GM10B was parked n the track alongside the IHB, and the GM6C was in the engineering warehouse. I got into the cab of the GM6C, it was very similar to a modern EMD diesel with dual controls, with the addition of pantograph controls, and a small toggle switch to select the input voltage/frequency (11KV, 25hz or 25KV, 60 hz).

Hi Jeff

Love your signature with GG1 etc. Very Good.

You didn't happen to get any photos while at the open day ? GM6C or GM10B.

Thanks

The GM6C was supposed to be on an SD40-2 underframe. If so, I wonder if those parts went to scrap or if the frame and trucks were reused.

If I did, they are buried in a collection of several thousand old slides.....

I think you're going to have to ask EMD directly:
