You may have the best museum with the most content to present to the visitor. However, that doesn't benefit anyone if you cannot deliver the content in a manner that engages the visitor. That means that your method of presentation should be adjusted to suit the audience.

As a National Park Service Ranger assigned to Raspberry Island Light Station in Michigan once said, "I can tell a group of children that the tower is forty five feet high or I can tell them that if you fall off it, you're probably going to break your arm." Which version do you think gets their attention?

don't you mean Michigan Island in Lake Superior in Wisc? (non of which makes sense because the nearest airport is in Minn).

One thing most of us learn is to "Identify the target public", which is a fancy way of saying, keep your talk short if there are a lot of young children in the group. On the other hand, some years ago, when I was running Huntington Standard 665 at Orange Empire, among my passengers were a father and two daughters in the 9-12 year old range, who seemed more interested in the car than the casual visitor. So, after the rest of the passengers had gone off, I opened a motor trap and explained about traction motors and how the controller works. We should always be ready to impart knowledge when the opportunity arises--it sets us apart from "theme parks" and similar attractions.
