Reading & Northern 425

Nice job, but ya left a little blue paint on the "Safety Always" logo on the steps... ;)

I like the green, but way too light. How about a nice dark green? All this talk about the 425's paint, got me to thinking about non-streamlined locomotives that weren't painted black. Here's what I came up with:

1. GM&O Pacific in red
2. Rutland 4-8-2's in green
3. Southern (natch) 4-6-2's in green
4. UP Northerns/Mountains in two tone gray
5. CB&Q 4-8-4 #5632 in gold (one time only!)

What did I miss?

Ahhh nice black...maybe someday. I do dig the blue but the black is my favorite.

CNJ 4-6-2 G3-s/P-47 road numbers 831,832 and 833 in Packard Blue for Blue Comet service.

Don't forget the green CNJ scheme, too, for The Bullet.
B&M had standard 4-6-2's in several colors.
PRR had colored standard K4's (red and DGLE, right?)
CPR gave the grey and maroon treatment to standard locos

And then there's that elusive RDG 4-6-2 that was supposedly the spark behind #425's hue.

I definitely should have remembered the Canadian Pacific maroon and gray engines. I thought of a couple more:

DM&IR gray boiler jackets including their 2-10-2's, 2-10-4's and Yellowstones!
Great Northern various locomotive types in green.

Add to colored non-streamlined steam engines: the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie A-2 Berkshires in dark green.

Add B&O President Class P-7 Pacifics (#'s 5300 to 5319) in green as built and later in blue on the P-7 rebuilds. Also NYO&W 4-8-2 Y Class with at least one in maroon and black for the 'Mountaineer'.

Re non-streamlined steam engines other than black: Les mentioned the Southern 4-6-2s in green, but also some of the Southern system's 4-8-2s were liveried similarly:

I thought I was being cute and clever with a fictional dark blue EM-1, but as it turns out, in the last months of steam any paint that went on the survivors was indeed B&O diesel blue. Color pictures from 1959 show blue cabs, blue tenders and one completely blue locomotive, although I couldn't tell which number she was.
