I didn't know the trailing truck of 6153 had been swapped out. Does Exporail have a non-operational policy for pieces of the collection other than the reproduction "John Molson"? I had long hoped 6153 might see service again, as she was one of the last 4-8-4's to run passenger specials.

With regard to 6167, 6069, and 6077, please post updated photos whenever possible. And painful as it might be, perhaps updated images of 6218, too.

It was the lead/engine truck. Hard to say how bad it was, but the change was made on the quick as there was no time for repairs with a sold out excursion coming right away.

Isn't it true that it was only a wheelset that was swapped over to 6060 and not an entire truck?

The "Bullet Nosed Betty's" were possibly the prettiest semi-streamlined locomotives in North America, with the possible exception of the PRR T1's. Your opinion may differ.

Nope. No plans for anything in Ontario. Probably no plans for anything in the rest of Canada...

Right now our mandate is to stabilize her and restore her for static display to as close to how she looked when she came to sarnia. To restore her to running once again would cost an enormous amount of money and also there is no where to run her to. Ideally if someone could have had forsight back in the 80s to acquire the rail line that ran north out to forest or grandbend then she could have been brought back into service as a tourist train but even back then she had sat for 20+ yrs.
Our small group has had to deal with alot of issues with her being pretty much neglected for 30 years barring the odd paint job once in awhile.. Thanks for the positive comments .. it really makes all the hard work worthwhile !

Was the lagging removed from this locomotive, and replaced with spacers, as was done with 6167? If not, has any assessment of the lagging (for water content) been made?

Which other locomotives, other than 6167 and the PRR 460, have spacers under the jacket for water drainage?

The locomotives listed below all have their jackets installed over 2X2 treated softwood spacers arranged to provide for drainage and air circulation:
Chicago Gravel Co. No.18, Bensenville,IL
Chicago Burlington & Quincy No.4978 at Mendota, IL (formerly displayed at Ottowa, IL)
New York Central No.999 at Chicago, IL
Spang, Chalfant & Co. No.8 at Scranton, PA
The latter two are displayed inside museums...

no she still has her asbestos under the jacket and on the backhead of the boiler. Over the past couple of years, it has been sealed in a flexible rubberized compound.
