Here is an interesting video of the end of Tram service in London in 1952. Of note, notice the "on the fly" drop and pick up of the conduit plows!

It's interesting how the history of this system, and undoubtedly others, parallels what we had here. This includes past operation of horse cars and cable cars, eventual consolidation of companies, and ultimate abandonment.
