While I'm not a big fan of the AMC series, "The Walking Dead," (frankly, I find zombie fiction silly and tedious), I have noticed a lot of RR locations on the show recently. I know they film it in Georgia, but I got to wondering last night where that coaling tower is, or where the "Terminus" building is, as it appears to be a RR facility of some kind.
Anyone know more on this? What RR line have they been filming at this season?

The "Terminus" bldg is at Pegram Shops. That's where Bill Purdee mastered his craft.

As for the coaling tower may be its one of these...

There is much filing around GA. Vampire Diaries, The Originals and of course Walking Dead. A relative of mine was a regular on "In the Heat of the Night" back in the late 80's wich was filmed in Covington same as Vampire Diaries. I know more than I should about this due to my wife and daughter's fascination with the vamp diaries. Course they claim they know too much about trains because of me :-)

Thanks for the links. I think the woer they used last night was the one in Raymond. They film a lot in that county (I drive right past them setting up for a night time scene in that area when i was heading to Alabama in 2012).
I had no idea the shops where were 'Terminus' was. You couldn't see that was a turntable pit they were walking across at the end of the episode

I don't follow this series, but my son does. Tonight he told me that he just saw a scene where some of the characters were sleeping between the rails! I hope this doesn't lead to anyone playing copycat, having their friends take photos, etc. I suspect this episode was filmed before the fatality in Georgia, but it still sets a bad example.

The scene takes place in a tunnel where there's already been a collapse. That, and society has completely broken down at least 2 years before, so nobody's running trains by then. The group has cleared the one end of the tunnel and the zombies can't get to them over the debris, so it's a safe place to rack out for the night for them.
Given that context, I can actually see where they went with this.

Taken in that context, well....maybe. But for someone channel-surfing, and just seeing that one scene, it may give a wrong impression of what is acceptable and what isn't.

Somehow, I never remember a time when I was that naive or stupid so as to think that that sleeping on the tracks was acceptable.

As a kid, I watched the Three Stooges and plenty of other slapstick comedy.
Never once did I think of hitting someone with a hammer or breaking a chair over his head.

There seem to be a lot more simpletons on the loose nowadays.

I've spoken with college students that couldn't pour urine out of a boot if the instructions were printed on the heel.

So what is the status of the Pegram Shops? We got to see inside the various buildings in the season finale, including one scene shot inside the roundhouse.

Not sure what the exact status of Pegram is. I suspect that several buildings of the facility are not used for motive power repair.

On another note the Old SRR HQ building on Spring street is also a "Georgie-wood" favorite. Here is a link to the NS periodical "BIZNS" with a piece on the Spring Street building.

Speaking of Vampire Diaries, my wife n daughter were catching up, and low and behold I catch a scene filmed at the Southeastern Railway Museum - Duluth. It was a recent episode.
