Interesting. I'm reasonably certain that the Brill car is from Kyoto, a sister car to number 19 at Orange Empire. I wonder how many Japanese streetcars are preserved over here? I can think of four, the two aforementioned Kyoto cars as well as the Kyoto double-trucker in Tucson and a Nagasaki car at Seashore.

Does the Allaire group have any plans to purchase #26? How much restoration work would need to be done to get her operating again?

Just as information, the 2-6-2 offered in this auction is three foot gauge, which the listing does not mention, and should. Of course, you don't bid on something like this without making an inspection first.

Unless you're some well-heeled lottery winner with more money than sense (which, looking at the rest of this auction's offerings, Dr. Cox just might have been himself!), you don't spend the kind of bucks this loco should bring without knowing that in the first place.

More seriously, IS there a provision for NJMT/Pine Creek/Allaire State Park to somehow acquire this loco themselves? Some "Friends of" group, or what? I'm even a bit hazy about just how this railroad up there operates in the first place.....

On the off chance that nobody from Pine Creek thought of that after seeing the auction notice, maybe we should let them chime in as to whether or not they want it before we decide it is just what they need.

Based on the appearance of #19 at Orange Empire the streetcar looks to be from Kyoto and narrow gauge.

The California Street Cable car is also narrow gauge, 3'6".
