I was wondering how many members of this board will be at Spencer for the Streamliner Festival ? I will be there with Wabash 1009. A get together may be in order

Sure you can...each in his own kitchen or backyard, and shared digitally which should cut down on the cleanup at the roundhouse.

Our Potomac Eagle guys will be there with our B&O and the C&O F units. I'm wanting to hear some 567's exhibit a "zero beat " for us in about notch 6 . . . . or 7 or 8! I hear a finely tuned E unit should be able to do it also.

Be seeing you there, Gary. Looking forward to seeing the "new" 1009. I advocated restoring 1009 to its "as delivered" paint long ago - in a museum (RTM) not so far away! Maybe we can get them to place the Wabash 1009 and NKP Alco PA side-by-side for a few pix. I'll be down on Friday and Dorr will be showing up sometime Saturday.

I'm betting Doyle's PA will steal the show.
I can't be there, but please post pictures.
CSX dropped the ball by not making C&O Hudson 490 ready to stand in the crowd.

Dave, No way I can "skype", I am a Luddite. I don't own a laptop, have a woodburning steam powered desktop computer and a "dumb" phone. I will be offline from when I leave on Wednesday until the following Monday. If you want to find me, I'll be lurking somewhere around VMT's three exhibits, 1009, 611, and the FTB. (or annoying Sadler if he shows up)

Always a good thing to do to prevent boredom.

I'm stuck at work so I won't make it up there.

Even though dismals don't do much for me I was thinking of attending disguised as a NNN..... with a sweatshirt emblazoned on the front with an image of the BIG BOY and the words... NEVER HAPPEN and the back with an image of the N&W 611 and the words..... CAN'T BE DONE.

Might be good for some hearty laughter??

While I can understand the sentiment Ross, I suspect the Norfolk and Western fans in residence won't. Perhaps substituting the Penssy T-1 Trust instead?

1. I think it will be a bit warm for a sweatshirt.

2. I think your two examples are "strawmen" I don't think anyone on this board that you classify as a NNN, "Negatoid," "toid" or any other ad homenim has ever stated that a Big Boy would never run if UP put its full support and funding behind it. Also, after 1994, most reasonable people thought that 611 wouldn't run anymore. It took a change of corporate attitude and a well-run (very well run) fundraising campaign that set realistic goals to get the job done.

3. I would imagine that a Yellow Ribbon Express or Grenbrier Presidential Express shirt would get more laughter.

4. Turning a discussion about attending, what by all accounts will be a very neat event, into yet another vehicle to attack those who do not think you walk on water really takes away from the effort others have put into organizing and attending the event. In other words, the event isn't about you.
