Well spoken, Mr. Rowland.

In railroad restoration and preservation, giving up and putting down is the first step in getting things done!

My sweat shirt size is XL, Ross!

Might be good for some hearty laughter??

Ross -

Well thought out! I understand, even if some others don't. Kind of wish I was going to be there now. Have fun if you attend. And, wear the shirt (whatever type) so emblazoned!

3. I would imagine that a Yellow Ribbon Express or Grenbrier Presidential Express shirt would get more laughter.

4. Turning a discussion about attending, what by all accounts will be a very neat event, into yet another vehicle to attack those who do not think you walk on water really takes away from the effort others have put into organizing and attending the event. In other words, the event isn't about you.

Ross, they may be laughing, but ask yourself, would they be laughing WITH you, or AT you?

Mr. Wilkins, Well put sir!

Jeff

We've been tracking the engine we sponsored for NCTM, the NH 2019 - on this site https://heritageunits.com/Locomotive/Detail/NH2019 It's fun to watch its route down to Streamliners at Spencer! It's a great event - we really should go one year.

Re: NH 2019- Is Mohawk, near Utica, really on the way? Seems like 2019 missed a left turn North of Albany, its last reported position. It looks like the PA is making better time from the West Coast.

Gary,

Did WABASH 1009 and N&W 611 travel together to Spencer? Just curious about logistics.

And when you consider the efforts to put NKP 190 in a cross-country consist for a single weekend display, this is a big deal in terms of contributions by the partner railroads and/or the event sponsor. Nice work by the event planners and Doyle.

The website has two entries for the same moment (5/17/14) 1:35 AM - Schenectady, NY and Mohawk, NY. My guess is that they are referring to one of the railroad bridges over the Mohawk River (in Schenectady), not to the town of Mohawk (which is between Little Falls and Utica).

The 2019 is not near Utica NY. It is at the CP's former D&H Mohawk Yard in Schnectady NY waiting to head down to Binghamton and points south.

"NNN"

for those of you who don't recognise the acronym, it most assuredly is

Nattering Nabobs of Negativism

attributed to that beacon of American political ethics Spiro T Agnew - former Vice President of the other beacon of American political ethics Richard M Nixon.

Then again, one might interpret the phrase "American political ethics" as an oxymoron.

As Monty Python once said in the Arguments skit

"yes it is, no its not"

It is NOT going via CSX - period.

Wesley, Neither 611 nor 1009 has traveled to Spencer yet. 611 is still at VMT, it will be pulled out on Saturday. VMT is hosting a "going away" party prior to the movement at 2 PM. 1009 is already at Shaffers Crossing engine terminal where some minor adjustments are being done to the brakes. I would expect that they would travel together, but I don't know for sure, NS is handling the moves.

Boy am I ever slipping. Only 2 of the 6 NNN's took the bait. Things are slow all over. Let's hope the diesel lovers have a great time and everyone is safe.

Trains just reported on twitter that they are scheduled to move together and the N&W heritage unit will provide the power. Have fun everybody!

Getting back on topic - I'll be there!

A steam fan like Ross, I still have a soft spot for streamliners. Looking back then, one could only imagine great fortune in future of the American passenger train. 'Course, the same could be said of our space program having seen Americans land on the Moon and initial interest by Boeing in building an SST (along with fruition of the Concorde).

Wish a few more examples other then F's, E's and PA's made it down, ie; C&O #490, Rockhill Trolley Museum's functional Liberty Liner, the B&O EA1 to name a few. And
why no Acela nor a single GG1?

Still - looks like a great time. Would be perhaps better if name tags were issued!

/Mitch
(Thursday and Friday - say hello if you spot me!)

Ross - bring yourself and that shirt, and then follow me on Saturday and Sunday to chase SOU #630!
