Just returned form a 4 day trip on the private car Royal Street. St Louis - Chicago - New Orleans. Thought I'd share a couple of pictures. Sorry I don't have better pictures to share. I was too busy having fun times with friends and being spoiled by the car attendant. It is a beautifully restored car that rides smooth as silk.

And, yes, the Crescent herald is historically accurate if you know the history of the car.

Bill -

Thanks for the photos and comments. You said a 4 day trip, so I assume that it was round trip; St. Louis-Chicago-New Orleans and return.

Car looks great. Very jealous of your trip!

Les-
Left STL Sunday and arrived Chicago Sunday pm. Parked the car at a Roosevelt Rd yard overnight. Hooked to city of New Orleans Monday evening. Arrived NOLA Tuesday afternoon. Parked the car in NOLA Tuesday & Wednesday nights. Caught the regular AMTRAK Crescent back to Birmingham Thursday.
Car went Northbound Saturday on the Northbound City of New Orleans to pick up a charter at Jackson, MS. bound for Chicago.

We met the gentleman who owns the car in St. Louis. He came to see us off. Great guy!

Looks like you all had a good trip! What a nice car! I used to see the car parked over in the "private car storage track" adjacent to old St. Louis Union Station Tower #1 and close to the current Amtrak facility.

David,
The car is based in St. Louis and usually around the Amtrak yard. Its often used by American Rail Excursions. Its headed to Glacier Nat'l Park on a tour later this month. 2 other cars, 27 "guests" riding behind the Empire Builder. Wish I was going!
