Quote:
Since the CN has declared the two E9AR's IC 100 and 101 as "surplus" they have lost their home inside Woodcrest Shop and have been moved to the deadline outside with other retired units.

"Built in 1954 as class E-8 locomotives, they were rebuilt in 1972 to E-9 specs as BN 9901 and 9904. IC acquired the engines in 1995 with additional rebuild and upgrade." It appears that for the past couple years they have been used only for the IC "Santa Train" in December.

Conway Scenic comes to mind - always liked those until recently traded to PamAm.

Too much work put into those to scrap, I would hope!

They'd look good in EL colors, you know pulling an EL dinner train.

I'd love to see this engine go to the Kentucky Railway Museum. They don't have any power to represent kentucky other than 152. These e units ran through Kentucky, were rebuilt in kentucky, and could be preserved in Kentucky.

The Monon BL2 which frequently visited the K&IT's Youngstown Yard in Louisville (and Louisville Union Station), the L&N E6, and the L&N 0-8-0 all disagree with your claims.

Found a pair of photos by Chuck Zeiler of the #9938A and #9977, with informative captions:

My apologies. I meant running. While the Monon was bought by the L&N, it's isn't as much KY history. The E6 is in terrible condition. The 0-8-0 also needs extensive work.

I thought the BN e units were rebuilt at Paducah?

No, they were rebuilt by M-K at Boise, ID. There is even less reason for them to go to KRM.

Out of all the Es, there is still a need for a Frisco "Racehorse" original scheme with bronze gold, white edged stripes.

152 isn't running either, hasn't run for three years.

Also, I guess that whole thing about the Monon owning 1/3 of the Kentucky & Indiana Terminal RR, with its large yard facilities, roundhouse, and belt line, plus the operation of freight and passenger trains into the state's largest city doesn't really quality as not much Kentucky history.
