Being a P-S car the door cut in the side isn't a huge deal.

As far as heritage goes, I'd tend to go with the MEC lineage that Jon Clark notes a couple of posts up. In many ways those MEC P-S cars mimicked NYC's designs. Note the roof vents...

I suspect the hallway portholes are a MP addition.

Today (4-16-22), MP 562 is in the final stages of being scrapped. I visited the park to get photos of the adjacent depot and was surprised to find the car mostly taken apart. Only the frame, trucks, and one end of the body are still in place. A dumpster filled with the rest of the car is nearby. It looks like they may have just used an excavator to rip it up instead of cutting.

Does anyone know if any effort was made to save this car and when the scrapping process began?

Thomas

This is the first I've seen of the discussion of this car. Might have had some interest for Richard Glueck and the 470 restoration, as a restored 'Lumber King" would fit right in historically...
