I'm unaware of any 0-4-0 restoration projects out there, can you divulge who the wheels and rods are for?

Just curious.

Kelly.. You have a picture of Andrea boring a wheel center. Curious as to what the dimension tolerance would have been on something like that. +/- .001 ?

Unrelated question:

Lynn was quoted, I think here or in Trains, that the optimal load on a steam locomotive to balance wear and tear and productive work was XX% of maximum tractive effort.

What is that percentage?

If you don't mind me asking do you have any photos of your handcar break set up? IMHO it is a little too effective at stoping the handcar and surprised me when I went for a ride.

The staff at the Strasburg tends to make certain that their equipment works the way that it should. Why they would want to break a perfectly good handcar is beyond me, unless of course you were referring to taking a break from pumping it.

A brake will slow the car. A break from the car involves water, coffee and catching you breath.

Hi Guys, Thought I let the fine shop people at Strasburg debunk this rumour, straight from the horses mouth, so to speak. I have a feeling a certain Long Island rail fan who's name will go unpublished, has mistaken which tank locomotive is being overhauled. Is BEDT 16 also heading to Strasburg for overhaul, once the RMLI's ng Porter is finished? Or is she just getting some cosmetic restoration work done, or is it a foamer mix up of locomotives? Have a slice of sho-fly pie for me! D Notarius, Cambridgeshire UK, Ex New Hope PA.

Is it me or have almost all of the pictures been "deleted"?

David,

Much of BEDT 16's drive train was cut off of it by thieves while it sat outside in Brooklyn. The main drive rods were removed and no one has vouched for their existence today. The RMLI will not attempt to restore BEDT 16 to operation. It is receiving a cosmetic overhaul and will remain a static display at the Museum.

Thank you for your interest,
Don Fisher, President
