Thanks for posting the link to that interesting photo, Jeff!

I'm wondering what the histories are of the cars seen behind the electric. There are several heavyweights and at least 2 lightweights; in 1954 P-S built 48 cars for the Paulista Railways (Companhia Paulista, or CPEF), in Lots #6896-#6900, which had been ordered in 1951 for the Trem Azul.

Lot #6896, Plan #7630: 15 2nd Class coaches, #171-#185.

Lot #6897, Plan #7631: 15 3rd Class coaches, #271-#285.

Lot #6898, Plan #7632: 6 1st Class coaches (parlors), #71-#76.

Lot #6899, Plan #7633: 6 diners, #871-#876.

Lot #6900, Plan #7634: 6 RPO-baggage cars, #471-#476.

looks like another engine in the back was tipped as well, they go this far to get copper...sheeshe

You'd be better to keep the electrics running stopping the thefts. Again Oil prices and earth ecology has electric favored over oil guzzling things.

No value taking wire down, may as well upgrade the system, eventually you have to get new wire anyways, replacing the old.

They have to have an exception for older equipment for moving for the couplers.
It seems to me to move the engines now you would have to dissasemble them, send the trucks to a shop for regauging. Makes me wonder if the South Shore Shops could still do this magic.
That boxcab looks interesting, some modding maybe you could make into a 700 South Shore...maybe.. well, dreaming.

I missed the original post, but I can attest that the story about Cascade Rail Foundation pursuing a Little Joe is completely a rumor.

On the other hand, MILW U25B 5057 is currently sitting at Portola, CA waiting for the nice folks at UP to inspect and (hopefully) approve it for movement this week. It will be heading to the POVA shop at Usk, WA for cosmetic restoration. The plan is to then move it to South Cle Elum, WA for display under a yet to be built shelter.
