It has taken a long time to rebuild Baldwin 26, but look at what we're getting in return. The Steamtown people should be getting nothing but accolades for this accomplishment, and further encouragement to take on another good candidate. Look at what they've done with economic shackles on their ankles. I'm certain they have a list of worthy candidate in front of them. If I had a voice in the matter, I'd say getting the quickest rebuild done next would be the priority, then, go for CNR 47. A complete tear down, examination, documentation, and restoration. She's the perfect locomotive for that line.

I know, I know, we've been on this topic before, beaten to death.
Congratulations on #26, fellas!

I don't know about you, but I think the push should be to finish 3713 now.

(You're from Maine, I'm hoping you agree)

Re-read it and you'll notice he's advocating for 47 after "getting the quickest rebuild done" which, logically, since it's in the process, would be 3713.

Posted in FaceBook-land today, by Mr. Forde. We have a pope!

Hats off to the volunteers and shop employees at Steamtown. 15 years to the month!

Congrats to the folks at Steamtown! And if the truck had not been in the picture, we could have had a very nice replication of the 1930's/40's/50's, which is what railroad preservation is all about after all.

Extending my congrats for the work, as well.

Now I know why it's called a 15-year inspection.

Congrats to everyone involved. Any steam locomotive brought back to life is plain wonderful. To see one back up and running after such a long time torn down warms me right up even more. The potential for lost or stolen parts is great. The longer it is apart often there is less interest and it goes further down on the list of importance. People come and go and so do valuable parts. So hurray for the #26 and tip of the hat to the folks that have made it happen, past and present.

Regards, John.

I'm so glad to see steam at Steamtown once again. Once #26 is completely finished and running again, that will be absolutely glorious. She will look so beautiful running again. With B&M #3713 still in the process of being restored to operation (which I really can't wait to see her when she is running), which of the other steam locomotives is next up to return to steam: CN #3254 or CP #2317? There is no rush, of course, and I don't mean to sound impatient. I'm just curious as to which locomotive will be the next to return.

According to the website, 2317 will be next. Take that info how you will.

Mark, which website did you find that bit of info? Can't find anything at the NPS site.

Personally I think 2317 is the better looking engine but 3254 would probably better suit their needs.
