It's not uncommon for a locomotive to have been dumped and buried here in Florida. I know of at least a couple of instances where the loco was wrecked and simply stripped of useful parts and buried beside the right of way, etc....a few years ago a boiler was dug up while constructing a swimming pool.....perhaps sadly, the local preservation group allowed the city to pressure them to "get rid of it that eyesore".....another partial locomotive was discovered during some road construction, before it could be removed, the contractor destroyed it with a backhoe....

I concur with this statement, this locomotive appears to my eye's at least to be more analogous to B&M 494 than say The William Mason.

The White Pass & Yukon dumped 4-6-0s #60, 62, 66 & 67, 2-8-2 #196 and a rotary snowplow as fill. They were worth more as riprap than as scrap. #60 was dug out in 1988. Fort Worden State Park at Port Townsend, WA has a Porter 0-4-2T that was used as fill.
