Armstrong oilers were commonly used on British freight wagons as well as locomotives; the basic concept is a concave wooly pad with a spring to hold it against the bottom of the plain journal and wicks to draw up oil from the bottom of the axlebox.

I have recently ordered a set of oilers for Bagnall 2746 at Wirksworth, and the general design is identical to the oilers in the boxes on my LMS brakevan.

I thought that I'd heard of someone else making the Armstrong style spring lubricators here in the states, but couldn't find it in a search. Anyone know what I'm talking about, or am I imagining things again?

We bought an unmatched pair of 5 x 9 freight car trucks from a shop where they had been used in a sand blast operation. One truck had cotton waste packing but the other one had lubricators. We bought 8 new ones so we have 4 used 5 x 9 journal lubricators for sale at $100 total you pay the freight from zip code 74003. Except for a little sand they are in good shape.

Didn't Multiservice used to supply journal pads. I could swear I bought some years ago for our SW7. But then it might have been 10 or more years ago. Old age you know....
