Chris,

Dual gauge and on a curve? Wow, you are gluttons for punishment! Looks great though.

Harmer built the diamonds in 2009. We purchased two with an approximate cost of $60K each. They were built in 90# rail, bolted, and plated. They came as kits and we had to assemble them.

The guys are Harmer are great. Work with them all the time and they really excel at projects like that. $60K for those was a total steal! I shudder to think what they'd have cost from one of the "big guys". I'm sure it would have been far more.

Oh, and if you can somehow afford one built to mainline standards and made out of big steel, (if you have to ask how much, you can't...) the current lead time on diamonds is about a year, possibly more if there's complex engineering involved, like there was on that project.

OTOH, used diamonds are fairly easy to find and not in much demand. I scrapped one a few years ago since I couldn't find anyone who wanted/needed it.

Hi,

I love the dual gauge diamond with nine (9) frogs.

I recall a photo from somewhere where a dual gauge switch had a dual gauge diamond between the points (maybe stubs?) and the turnout frogs.

Those (basket weaving in iron) were always fascinating to me.
