I believe the fantrip locomotive is CCW 300, if so it is being restored at IRM.

You were correct, CCW 300 was the one in my video. I can view my videos with a stop frame with enhancements, and it was the #300. Good Catch!

One of my favorite all-time Railroad Pictures.

Ya think the Football team had summer jobs on the RR?

Given the water can on the walkway, and all the young bucks are shirtless, I'd say they are going out to do track work somewhere. I remember someone trying to recruit me to go out to Mason City for a "position" like that about 1970 or so... no thanks!

Great footage! (And this comes from a steam guy!)

Of course, this very definitely was an excursion of some kind. I found the choice of a B&O drop-end gon for the excursionists most interesting, in that there is movie footage of an excursion on the B&O itself with two such gons in the train, which is assigned an EM-1-2-8-8-4!

I like the B&O gon too! Wait till you see the footage of the B&O maiden voyage of the "Cincinnatian" (that might be spelled wrong) steam loco in color and it's cars. I will post it next. Not sure when I'll get to it, but might be today or tomorrow. Bruce

Yes, obviously a fantrip of some type. I like the fact that they unloaded from the drop end gondola at each spot, then backed up for the photo run. Nicely done! I thought that the B&O gondola was an interesting piece of equipment to use; just grabbing it after some kind of a delivery made to the CCW. Then I got to wondering if perhaps the short line had purchased the used gon and put it into company service. It seems like the reporting marks might have been changed from B&O, but couldn't tell for sure. BTW, that one spot with the "kink" in the track was interesting. Did they actually go through that? I thought that they were going to stop short of it, but the indication was maybe they went through it! Short line railroading after all!

I am happy to report CC&W car 50 is alive and well giving people rides from the BSV Depot to downtown Boone. A true gem to have. This year the car is 100 years old, though you would never know it. Come out and see it

The trolley wire was severely damaged by an F5 tornado that ripped through Floyd County May 15th 1968. What overhead the tornado didn't remove the railroad did shortly there after.
