Hello to all

Its years overdue but at last we have received 501c Non profit status for C&S Car 57, UP caboose 2516 and DSP&P Car 3 'Geneva'. We have formed ourselves thats myself and 3 other directors/volunteers into the High Plains Railroad Preservation Association.

Pages for the projects are here....
Car 57 funding for a new roof required this year $2500
http://car57.zenfolio.com/p331500692

Caboose 2516
funding to finish and display the project which is 90% complete $1750
http://car57.zenfolio.com/p940861892

DSP&P car 3 'Geneva'
funding to restore the 1/3 of the car that i have and build a mobile DSP&P exhibit in time for the dedication of the Como depot and DSP&P convention in Fairplay in August 2015 $15,000
http://car57.zenfolio.com/p123520640

It became obvious over the years that i couldnt complete all these projects in a timely fashion and take on more that need our intervention without this important change in status....I thank everyone that helped me so far to achieve the wonderful things that we have and look forward to a bright future.

Congrats!

Yeah, I know, it takes for-e-ver. Now, start checking guidestar.org for when your organization shows up there. It can take a month or three for data to propagate from the IRS. That's important because many donors look there first. Large internet companies look only there, because their checking is automated. They give things like

- Amazon and PayPal nonprofit for donations, membership payment, shopping carts, credit card swiping, you name it.
- eBay nonprofit for you or donors auctioning stuff to benefit you
- TechSoup for software donations
- Google Apps free for email @your-domain.org, document sharing etc.
- VerticalResponse.com for bulk email, your first 10,000 a month is free.
- Amazon Smile for fundraising
- JustGive for donations

Also at some point, create an account on GuideStar and fill out your organization's information. That helps your credibility with donors.
