Why can't we have the best of both worlds here at RYPN? I think that's what makes this forum so great - you have a great melting pot of people - preservationists, railroad employees, GM's, photographers, railfans, historians, people who love one specific railroad-related topic, people who have a general interest in trains, people who love to fix things, etc etc.

I've come to love this place to find out great information about various topics - some topics are serious discussions, others not too serious. Why change that?

You got me there.

I got a good chuckle out of that one.

Knock that crap off! This is a serious preservation forum. No fun, no sarcasm, no joking or horseplay and definitely NO CHUCKLING! Wipe that smirk off your face...

Here's a good one on a German Website;
http://www.eisenbahn-kurier.de/startsei ... geruestet2

Google translator comes up with something along the following, it isn't the best but I think you get the point. Anyone know what a kompkaten is? Maybe a compartment?

Quote:
[ 1 . April 2015 ] Hamburg emits too much carbon dioxide. Even in 2012 produced industry, transport, commerce and households in the northern city of total 11 , 43 million tons of CO 2 .
Environmental organizations have this number registered with concern and prompted the Senate to arrange in-depth action here.
This includes, inter alia, shore power for ships in the port of Hamburg, the establishment of sites for deterrence individual car journeys and closer control of the resident industry.
In addition, it has now also taken to the railway and in particular the steam engines that reach under many special trips city on the Elbe. For the avoidance of emissions than the first locomotive 03 1010 has been equipped with a pantograph on the boiler. This feeds a type immersion heater, which is housed in a kompkaten investment in the water tank of the tender and produced as a "last mile Power Pack" high-pressure steam, which is supplied in separate steam lines via a controller the cylinders. This new technique allows her now an easy retraction among others in the Hamburg Central Station and unrestricted use, eg on the connecting train to Hamburg-Altona.
Our picture shows the locomotive on 1 .April 2015 , when she happened to applied current customers the Upper Harbour Bridge in Hamburg and will now enter the same in the Central Station.

Addendum 2 . April 2015 : April Fools! In addition to indicating the carbon dioxide production and the establishment of sites agreed nothing. The 03 in 1010 is still always welcome in good shape on the road and drive to Hamburg! The inclusion of Erik Körschenhausen on the four-track Upper Harbour Bridge shows the special train and parallel to an IC , from which one sees only the pantograph here.
