No it isn't. That photo is post - AFT. The only thing that was ever on 2100 from that photo was the stoker.

Does Reading #2100 operate with its original tender?

A friend of mine told me that the stoker, side rods, and tender from #2101 were given/sold to the Golden Pacific Railroad to be used on #2100 after the roundhouse fire involving #2101.
Does anyone know if there is any truth to this statement?

I also heard that, that 2100's original tender was given to the B&O museum to put behind 2101 after the fire and cosmetic restoration, 2101's tender was given to 2100 and was given new sheets when it came time to rebuild her.

Hi
I found this information on Steamlocomotivedot.com dealing with the tender on Reading 2100 .
A Brief History of 2101

Originally built in 1923, by Baldwin as an I-10a 2-8-0 road #2021
Converted to T-1 Class in 1945, by the Reading Railroad
1959 - 1964: Remained on standby during the Rambles, but was never used.
Sold to Striegel Supply & Equipment (scrap yard) in Baltimore, MD in 1965
Rescued by Ross Rowland and restored at Chessie's (B&O) Riverside engine terminal in 1974
Used on the "American Freedom Train" in 1975 and 1976 sharing duties with SP 4449 in 1976.
Led steam train excursions on the Chessie System from 1977 to 1979
Severely damaged in a roundhouse fire in 1979 after which the damaged tender was swapped with that of the 2100
Cosmetically restored as American Freedom Train #1
On static display at B&O Museum in Baltimore A Brief History of 2101

If I remember correctly 2100's tender was needed back on 2100 when she was restored, so the fire damaged 2101 tender was repaired cosmetically and re-installed behind the 2101.
AFT #1 only needed a tender that looked good, 2100 needed one that worked.
Such a shame that 2101 was caught in that fire, she had just been overhauled one year earlier, in the Reading RR shop she had been built in.

Yes, 2100's original tender is currently with 2101, as it is in the referenced photo.

All, the original restoration of 2100 took place in Hagerstown, MD and long preceeded the existence of Golden Pacific by almost 15 years.

From a post by Gary Bensman in a thread about RDG 2124:

Quote:
The 2101 now is displayed with the 2100's original tender. The 2100 now has the rebuilt 2101 tender. We replaced the warped side plates with new in the 1988 restoration at Hagerstown.

With that said, didn't she run on the Ohio Central for a short period of time, and I know that she appeared static at their railfest. Why did Jerry Jacobson not get her for OC, I seem to recall some talk that he was going to puchase her.

You are 100% correct.

It ran for two days on the Ohio Central just before it came to Canada. The original plan was to run it under its own power to St. Thomas, but the railways put the kibosh to that at the last minute. She arrived in St. Thomas with a full load of coal and water, but no fire.

I was at Train Fest in '05 (was there an earlier one?) and 2100 was not there.

Just awesome work by ASR so far. It's wonderful to see RDG 2100 getting another chance a life again. At least it will be closer to home. The steamer was in Ohio & Ontario area eh while back. 1st thing is to get 2100 prep/loaded back to the eastern shore of the Mississippi. ASR could always perform special oversized/mega-moved with SLSF 1352 and get both steamers to the Midwest Railway Preservation Society/B&O Roundhouse in Cleveland, Ohio. Good Luck ASR! ^_^
