Can we still call this unit 611, or has that been trademarked? ;-)

On a tangent... the ARHS deserves a ton of kudos. They are working on the F units and the FA, plus found the C420 and RS3 an active home on the D-L. It is quite a story when you dig into what has been accomplished the past 5 years or so.

Although I don't speak officially for ARHS, you may notice that they have been de-accessioning some of their collection recently in favor of the F3/F7b and possibly the FA-2
I heard that their plate is rather full with those items. I suspect that they're not in the market for another locomotive.

i heard that there may be some movement, if some people get their act (and not just their desire) together.

Your financial contribution will be well appreciated when an announcement is made. Can you be counted on?

And, the $crapper is aware of the hi$torical value of this unit. Read $$$$$.

With that in mind, I would only be interested if I knew the general ballpark of pricing. Dare I ask the question, what is the scrapper asking? Can you reveal that?

Since there has been no reply, I'll reiterate the question. Does anyone know the scrapper's selling price?

No offense meant to you in particular, but let's assume the people serious about saving her know the price, why in the name of Pete would they divulge that number to some anonymous dude on an Internet message board?

Maybe there is a valid reason, but I can't think of one.

I understand where you're coming from, I don't expect this to randomly become Ebay for railroad equipment although, might I ask who the interested parties are?

The group trying to save this locomotive is the Lehigh & New England Preservation Society, a newly formed entity created to take ownership of 611. The reason so little info has been made available is because frankly, while the group is confident we can make this happen, previous attempts by others have not been successful. The primary goal is to acquire and move LNE 611 to a safe location that is much closer to home.

Here is where we stand.

1. Purchase price has been agreed upon.
2. Primary funding for purchase has been acquired.
3. We have a location for 611 to live near it's home territory.
4. The group is covering all of its bases from a legal standpoint, and if/when we take ownership of 611, the only funding needed initially will be for the move to PA.

Until ownership has been established, it would be pre-mature to make any kind of "announcement" other than we are sincerely trying to make this happen. Thanks to everyone for the interest.

Sounds great! Just don't forget to post if/when you need money for the move on this site, you can count me in for financial support! I also have some LNE related artifacts I could let go of once you guys have more of an identity/ location.

For those of you not already aware a fundraising campaign has been started up to help move 611 from Indiana to its new home the Allentown & Auburn Railroad, Kutztown, PA. The A&A is a newly formed operation from Kutztown to the outskirts of Topton and return, a round trip of eight miles along this former Reading Branch. The current motive power is an ex Philadelphia, Bethlehem, and New England SW1 and the train is a B&O covered wagon caboose, a CNJ coupola caboose, and Conrail Historical Society's bay window caboose. https://www.facebook.com/lne611

I am sort of curious as to why there are a couple of heavyweight coaches and the LNE gondola the Kempton sold, are they there for future restoration? Also, what is EPRY 52 still doing there?

Here is an update on L&NE 611.

1. The locomotive has been purchased.
2. Donations have been coming in via the Fundly campaign and other private donations.
3. For those who want the most up to date info the Facebook page is usually the first to be updated.

Also, something to keep in mind, the Fundly campaign numbers are somewhat misleading. There have been several generous donations made to move 611 outside of this campaign and we are well on our way to funding the move, but are not quite there yet. If you have ever considered making a donation towards 611, now is the time. The Fundly campaign is still the easiest and most convenient way to do this, although Paypal is also an option from the Facebook page.

Great news! I live about a half hour from the elevator where 611 currently resides, and am curious if it will be retrucked and moved by rail or loaded on a flat bed and shipped by truck?

I cannot speak officially, but I can give you the facebook page that seems to be relatively up to date. Not many people seem to even know its going on, so there isn't much chatter about if offline, even in the Allentown & Auburn circle. https://www.facebook.com/lne611
