That is a pretty good short on one of my favorite "critter" companies. I hope that Mr. O'Conner gets his book together and published, I'll be one of the first to order a copy. Thanks very much for posting this!

I enjoyed reading the write-up about your Whitcomb research. As a former resident of Kirkland, I occasionally visited Rochelle (especially the Railroad Park), but while I lived there I was oblivious to the interesting Whitcomb heritage of the city. (We left that area in 2009.) Yes, I too hope you'll pursue the project till it becomes a book.

The book is a definite in my bucket list. My attitude towards a purpose in life is to leave behind more than just a tombstone and offspring. I have chosen to leave behind books, starting with the Whitcomb history. The Whitcomb book is really a minor player in my bigger ambition, a book on the rise and decline of manufacturing in Illinois.
