Regardless of how long it lasts, this is good Karma. While I don't advocate insisting that someone give up something they don't want to give up, I would think a discussion could be had/started about what sort of "items" might make good trade fodder or what someone might be interested in including or adding to their collection. Never hurts to talk....

Does anybody have any photos/videos to share of the 2156 in Roanoke? I haven't been able to find any.

Thanks!

Man, imagine a photo shoot of 2156, 1218 and a 611 in steam.
Yeah, pure foamery, but I had to put that out there anyway...

The 1218 and 2156 won't be in steam, but it looks like you can get your photo:

Recalling how N&W freight whistles sound, you really mean a "hoot"-enany!

Oh my, the thought of all three in steam--reenacting pusher service out of Boaz, maybe even doing it at night, and reenacting O. Winston Link, too--that darned dream just won't go away--and there's the Y-3a in Illinois, too--

Before anyone else gets half-baked ideas, compressed air alone won't cut it. You're talking 300 PSI in the massive volumes you get when superheated water flashes over to steam as the pressure is released.

To get enough compressed air with enough volume, you'd need the equivalent of a tank the size of a large truck or tank car, with air hoses the size of a fire hose. Anything less will be totally aenemic-sounding, as the Titanic Exposition's operatives found out the hard way when trying to show off the sound of the salvaged (and "kitbashed") whistle off said ship.

Compare the Smith-Hyson "Titanic" whistle on air:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7BLGibGUTA

.... with an identical whistle off the Normandie on steam (and recorded up too close):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdvxYM9H7_8

Having experienced 1218's whistle up close and miles away, I say "ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTES!"
