A great film. I noticed a photo credit to Mabel Flack. Mabel is the widow of Bob Flack. Bob was member of National Capital Trolley Museum. He was a prolific still and movie photographer in the sunset years of steam on the N&W. After his death in 1996 Mabel retained a large part of his film collection. I have lost track of the family in the intervening years since Bob died and was surprised to see Mabel Flack listed on the film.

Bob Flack teamed up with Harry Dodge in filming N&W steam in the 1950's and their film was used to create four volumes of our "Pocahontas Glory" series of videos. Volume three is their film of the Shenandoah Valley line. Volume four is their film of coal trains running from WV mines to Norfolk via Bluefield, Roanoke and Crewe. Volume five has their film of the N&W passenger service and Volume six has their film of hoppers trains westbound from Norfolk.

There is one scene in Volume 4 where Bob was inside a tunnel as a Y6 approached and passed him. He told me he never tried doing that again.

Both Bob and Harry were truly great cameraman and those four videos are some of the most popular that we've produced.
