San Pedro’s waterfront Red Car: end of the line?

This article is three months old, but recently started making the rounds of various rail-oriented Facebook pages again; it was only mentioned here as a sub-topic of the sale of Detroit cars back in March.

Any update on this story?

I'm not sure what the current future plans are.

The replica car line was the "baby" of the then manager (whatever is exact title was?) of the Port of Los Angeles. He was fond of the Pacific Electric and desired to use the replica to provide transportation from the cruise ship terminal and a soon to be redeveloped "Port o' call village." The line was created and operated with port revenue funds. After the line opened there were voices within San Pedro to extend the line this way and that way.

A report is that the crews actually saw some commuters using the line between a parking lot and downtown San Pedro.

But then the Port manager retired and there was no one in the management that really wanted the line as he had. The days of service were cut back and other changes in the operation were made.
