Fascinating video of a SCUBA team going into a water-filled abandoned iron mine. This is near the Mid-Continent Railway Museum. Especially interesting are the remnants of the mine railroad, including a car left down there. (Sorry, no steam locos.)

I actually know one of the divers that made that video, Tamara Thomsen. She owns Diversions Scuba, of Madison, Wisconsin. These are not spelunkers. Spelunkers are dry cavers. These people are practicing the art of cave diving, or in this case, the even more technical mine diving using a sophisticated breathing device called a rebreather. I am a cave diver and rebreather diver myself as well as a foamer and I enjoy when these topics come up, but have been wary since the supposed sunken locomotive in a quarry in Pennsylvania.

underwater steam eh..., sure don't need a tender but sure need a water filter and active water processor, and well, maybe wet coal can still fire....instant steam, don't need a boiler just collect it around the fire...talk about effeciency...problem is, how do you light the match...
