My lovely Granddaughter has decided that she needs to bring our firm's computer systems up to date. Apparently she feels that what we have been using is not adequate for her eight-year-old's homework. Part of her campaign of mayhem was to replace my perfectly suitable 'dumb' cell phone with a Blackberry. While it is a neat toy, I have had to assign to another grandchild the task of making the settings work properly for me. All I will offer in my defense is that the &%€$¿@ thing really believes that it is smarter than I am (at this point that does seem a distinct possibility) or it is convinced that I was trying to buy fertilizer. Coupled with a two-and-a-half inch screen and keys which seem to be sized for maximum efficiency - I can tap three at once with my thumb - I've found myself scheduling visits with both my optometrist and my rheumatologist. Gentlemen, I will buy the round.

Now, is anybody interested in the frame rails and floor boards from what was once a U23b?

P.S. I have seen it regularly both ways though I will readily grant that one 't' is far more common.

One must not however mistake my Father's language (as spoken to the north of Hadrian's Wall) as having anything more than a remote similarity to the Queens English, which is itself separate from the several versions of English spoken here. In retrospect I am sometimes amazed that an upper class young lady from Boston and a working class Scotsman could even carry on a conversation let alone maintain it for half a century.
