Baldwin had a brass plate fastened to the backhead with a code and then the normal information, steam test, water test, pressure. I had the code written down at one time but can not find it. Does anybody have this information?

This is a 1942 ALCO drawing of the plate used by BLW on their USATC S160 Consolidations which was adopted by BLW and assigned a BLW card number. I think "WD NO." is the War Department road number. These plates may have been may be different from their standard plate. The plate from ARR 557 was removed before the locomotive left Alaska 45 years ago and eventually made its way to a museum. We have secured its return and will be attaching it to the boiler when the time it right.

(The drawing came from a microfilm copy of a set of drawings that BLW provided to the Hungarian State Railways in the early 1950s.)

A couple of examples. One is the crown sheet plate and the other is the badge plate. I hope these come through. If not, sorry.
