Cummer Cypress 2-6-2 104 sold to Florida RR Museum

At it's meeting on Monday, Nov. 9th, the City Council of Leesburg, FL voted to sell Cummer Cypress 104, a 60 ton Baldwin 2-6-2, to the Florida RR Museum. The museum will move the locomotive to it's shop location at Willow, FL for cosmetic renovation and display.

The locomotive last operated at the Cummer Cypress mill at Lacoochee, FL which closed in 1960. It was bought by Congressman Albert Herlong in 1961 and moved to Leesburg where it was donated to the city for display and has been there until now.

The museum's property at Willow occupies part of a sawmill site that closed in the mid-1930's. The Willow Mill once had three locomotives, including a similar 2-6-2 so the 104 will be displayed there. It is unknown at this time if it is reasonable condition for full restoration to service.

The museum has built a replica depot at willow and uses the site for special events.

So cool to hear this.
Growing up in Tallahassee, my family went to muzzloading shots throughout the state and a few of them required a drive past the small park this engine was in, behind a chain link fence. I still have some photos my Mom took of it there.
So nice to see she's going to a good home she wasn't in great shape even when I was a kid in the 70s...

Is it known whether or not the full set of original builders drawings are still around for this loco?

I would sure like to have the full set for it.
