Adlake 28 Window Rubber sealed sash

I'm looking for either a source for or just an accurate drawing of the rubber Adlake used in their sealed sash windows (the sandwich rubber in the sash). This particular rubber was found on Santa Fe 30 series business cars such as 31, 32, 33, 34 and so on but was used on many lightweights also. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried Adams & Westlake itself? It is still in existence and serving the railroad industry.

Thanks for the tips - have tried Adlake but they have nothing and I have no source yet. The patents have no measurements that I can see, correct me if I'm wrong. Years ago I replaced the rubber on this car using material on hand for an SFE 500 series dome. It was really close, but not perfect and I want to do it right this time. (The windows are fogging)

Talk to Central Sales and Service in Waverly, Tenn. They have the Power Parts Company line that includes the dies for Adlake window units. I just replaced several windows with new rubber from them. They are excellent to deal with and very reasonable (I priced dies and minimum runs at other gasket makers, which CSS beat easily). They do not carry much stock, but will do a run as ordered, in 100' spools.

Without a picture or drawing I can't say which gaskets were in ATSF cars, but the 'plain' style two-pane window would probably be the A&W R-644. CSS can supply drawings of what they have so you can verify. If you want to upgrade to single pane Margard as we did, there is a die for direct replacement for that as well.

Elasto Proxy is the company I dealt with when I did the windows in my NYC sleeping car. They no longer show the profile in their catalog. They may still have the dies, I purchased it in 100 ft rolls. If you need a short piece as an example let me know. rstabler@sbcglobal.net
