The "blue caboose" is, indeed, now sitting on the main in front of the station in Stewartstown, PA with its cupola remounted. There's still a little mechanical work to be done (as of lunch time today), but this is relatively minor.

We thank all who contributed to the Friends organization to help fund the transportation costs. We appreciate your help very much! --- Ray

GE 44-tonner #10 (ex C&PA D-1) was moved to New Freedom where it has been used lately by Steam Into History!

More on the Stewartstown 80-tonner from Mark Eyer, of both the NRHS (regional director) and Daily Express, Inc., the trucking company (VP-Ops):
Quote:
Daily Express Trucking of Carlisle, PA delivered a GE 80 center cab locomotive to the Stewartstown Railroad on 12/21, that was purchased by one of the officers of the railroad for possible future restoration.

The GE 80 ton engine bearing serial # 31328, was an ex-US Navy unit originally, and was loaded at OmniSource scrap yard in South Bend, IN on 12/15 and moved in 3 loads to Stewartstown. At Omnisource it was numbered as engine 15.

This was a challenging move on the 80 tonner – as I arranged the cranes on both ends to load and unload, and we blew a rear end on the big truck between 83 and the Stew this morning resulting in needing to send a replacement truck down.

We have been busy this month with other moves as well – Daily Express also delivered ex CNR car # 2001 a 3 axle heavy weight built in 1914 from the Conway Scenic in N Conway NH on Friday 12/12 to the Colebrookdale Railroad in Boyertown PA . Moving a heavyweight car across Vermont and New Hampshire was a tough move as well, and we also moved “some steam engine wheels” from the WM Scenic in Ridgeley, WV to the Strasburg RR last Monday 12/14.
