Thought this link would be of interest... very few abandoned depots in NJ. Also has other LV buildings on site.

It is very interesting, especially the part where the "author" says this building would make a great Cub Scout project. This is an historic structure, not a bird house. The articles say it is in the downtown? of Pittstown. I guess it's a very rural part of New Jersey. ... my 2 cents.

Hi Tim,

Pittstown is still rather rural, although the landscape is being consumed by McMansions at an alarming rate. The town was at the end of a short LV branch, and the town center still boasts several historic buildings, including a mill that is a good restaurant.

Unfortunately, the station has languished in this condition for years. I am glad to see anyone take interest.

My first restoration project was an outbuilding from an 1870's estate at the shore. It was moved and restored as part of a Boy Scout project. I was not a scout, I was a volunteer from the museum that sponsored it. We worked with one adult preservation specialist. Two 17 year olds and one 35 year old did a decent job.

With the right adult supervision, I'd bet the scouts could restore the depot and get a nice club house out of it.

Hope all is well with you.

Best regards,

Rob
