Steam locomotive no. 765 arrives on Christmas Eve as the nearby church bells chime "First Noel" in this homage to the O. Winston Link recording of The Pelican.

Merry Christmas from us at the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society, Inc.

I know that this locomotive does not often run in the snow. Can anyone recall when her last time doing this may have been? When was that still photo taken, Kelly?

March, 2006 - just before the engine got to the mainline for its test run.

Bumping this because...'tis the season.

I've got the lights low, a warm drink nearby, sleeping pup at my feet and the elevated Nickel Plate main right outside my bay window.

Not too hard to imagine...

Cheers.

Anybody got any idea on how many miles the #765 put on this year? Her and her crew have been busy. Merry Christmas to all. Regards, John.

Kelly Lynch said somewhere that 765 ran 4,000+ miles and hauled 6,000+ passengers in 2015. Another great year!

Thanks for the count. Thought I read somewhere but wasn't sure how many more miles were put on towards the end of this year. I knew the total was a considerable amount regardless. Tip of the hat to all those who pulled this off. Tremendous amount of work in the background to make these 4000 miles happen.

I had been told first hand either this last spring or the summer before some of the planning and training the crews did to keep the 765 operation running smooth and trying to keep glitches to a minimum. What planning and team work involved to make it happen. Congrats to those involved. Regards, John.
