Post subject: Making the best of Baltimore in 2003
PostPosted: Sun Mar 02, 2003 11:15 pm

With all of the bad news out of Baltimore lets think about making the best of it. You know there is still a lot of potential for a NRHS convention in Baltimore. Trips over CSX with MARC equipment or maybe even Mr. LevinÂ’s E-8 units could be doable. There was a Dutch Line and an Old Main Line excursion last year. There are some really cool places like Baltimore Streetcar Museum, Wilmington and Western, Stewartstown, and Muddy Creek Forks nearby. The B&O Museum could probably muster up the steamers they own for short rides on the first mile. Maybe a trip over the Northern Central could be set up by then as well. While I am not tied to the planning of any of these trips I would be on the purchasing end of tickets. I rode the E-8s on the Port Road, the Dutch Line trip, and a railfan special on the Stewartstown last year and all were very worthwhile. So the chips are down, the number of visitors might be a lot lower but something could be come out of it to move in a positive direction. These type of activities could raise some funds to help the museum. The big pagent could be put off until the Grand Opening of the rebuilt museum.
