I have a bit of a dilemma in which I am completely confused and lost!

So, my dilemma is that I have no idea what the specific drawing number for the erection card for Baldwin 16293. From what I know, it is a 4-18C locomotive and is the 52nd of this kind built. Problems come when looking at the available erection card drawings in the SMU DeGolyer collection. I wish to acquire one or two erection drawings of the same exact locomotive 16293 was however, even within 4-18C there seem to be variations. Looking through the list reveals what I assume are standard models, and one off variations.

The specification card I now have lists a few numbers at the top, but they do not seem to match any of the available erection numbers. Am I missing the erection card number on the sheet, or is there somewhere I can find it?

Also, on the specification sheet there is a category for drawing number, of which 17 is written. What does that stand for?

Just speculating here. . .it's possible the drawings you're looking for may no longer exist, or at least are not in this collection.

I also notice that Baldwin's 4-18C classification has, as noted, a lot of variations--and one of them was apparently an 0-6-2 from 1883! That would explain how this engine may well have been built as an 0-4-2T but not having the classification that would normally come with that wheel arrangement; it was considered a variation or customization, not a standard engine of the 0-4-2 type.
