In that photo, note her headlight is sitting on the pilot. "Jewelry" parts that are no longer attached are probably in storage from her repainting. I'd love to see them replaced. her drivers are no longer buried in composting leaves. Probably an overall improvement for 2760.

Looks as though 2760 has had a pavilion built for it in the past year.

The protective pavilion is beautiful and exactly what was required to preserve this beautiful locomotive! It reminds me a bit of the protection over NKP 779. Apparently, things are looking up for C&O 2760!

Being from Atlanta, I'll toss in Georgia Power #948 for my dad who's a traction fan. The Shore Line Trolley Museum in East Haven got the car body back in 1966 and finished her in 2011. Not a basket case but a real save as it's the only one of the Atlanta cars left I think.

Thank you for adding Georgia Power #948 to the list. I recall a story of a volunteer from Atlanta who traveled regularly to East Haven on weekends to work on the car.

That volunteer, O. E. Carson, lived for many years in the Baltimore area, and commuted to Connecticut on weekends to work on 948. He passed away within the past month.

Here's at least a couple more:

In December 1988, I saw FENADESAL (ex FIdeCA) 2-8-0 #112 out of service behind the roundhouse in Sonsonate, El Salvador. She was pretty much complete, but VERY scuzzy, with a tree growing up into the smokebox and out the stack. Ten years later they had her running again, but I bet she wouldn't pass FRA...

OK, how about the 10 (more or less) engines in the WT Carter Brothers Lumber Company deadline, in the Piney Woods in East Texas, what they call the Big Thicket ??? Almost as bad as USATC #611 when we had her at Rusk, and I know several of these engines have been fixed up and actually function again. That cabbage stack mogul that ended up running in Arkansas was especially nasty back in the 60s.

Looking forward to seeing any replies with more specific or current information regarding these restorations.

Take Care & WORK SAFE

Tim,
The Georgia Power & Light 948 is the only complete Atlanta streetcar. However, the body of Georgia Power #
342 is at Seashore Trolley Museum.

They even sent people down to Atlanta to collect parts for it from some existing bodies.

Actually there's a second, but it's far from its original home. Atlanta 893 is complete and preserved intact in Busan, South Korea. A few years ago it was cosmetically restored and placed on public display. Hopefully this link works; if not google "Atlanta Busan streetcar" and click on the link with the ".kr" domain.
