Thomas The Tank Engine Warning!!!!

Big stuff here!!!!!

I just heard on the radio this morning that according to a psychology professor in England, all those train crashes on the Thomas videos and TV shows can inflict longterm serious emotional damage upon the little ones that watch it.

Be afraid.... be very afraid.

My girls only watch Thomas for the wrecks... Funny thing is they don't like Nascar???

Here's a link to the newspaper article. Funny... when TtTE was at the Northwest Railway Museum last summer... none of the children I observed seemed to be traumatized by his presence. :-)

I think we are in greater danger from experts like the professor. Thomas no more psychologically dangerous than Big Bird, or the late Fred Rogers.

I read the article, and after I thought about it, there have been a few kids that show up with their parents at the HVRR for a train ride, and the little tyke goes ballistic when its time to get on the train.

Once the kid is on for a few minutes, he or she tends to calm down and realizes there's nothing to worry about.

If this really were a problem, then I don't think we'd have two months worth of elementary school charters every April and May.

The real danger here is that some limp-wristed left wing kook will raise enough of a stink that Thomas becomes non-PC.

Here in california I don't think we have to woory about loosing interest in Thomas The Tank engine!

I saw the crowd at Railfair a couple of years ago; where incidently they had the real steam powered Thomas ex Brooklyn Eastern District Terminal (I think).

And more recently the Orange Empire Railway Museum had a visit and the crowds were huge. I read they plan to have him or it back in the Fall.

Back East, the Edaville web site says "Closed for the Winter" but they remind us that they are having him there again in April.
