Tried searching for it, but I guess my google-fu isn't up to the task... I thought someone had mentioned they had a database for American/Ohio Cranes?

Over the summer the Ct Eastern RR Museum took receipt of a 25 Ton Locomotive Derrick Crane. I am trying to fill in the gap for her history. Here is what we know.
--She was originally purchased by Boston & Maine RR, she shipped from the factory in April 1947, received May 1 1947, as work order# J-1457, received serial # 2157, and numbered B&M 3304. She is a model 825-G Mechanical and was shipped with a 40' lattice derrick boom, 7.5 kW magnet generator, outriggers, 2 hooks, tagline reel, and a 115hp Waukesha gasoline engine.
--She was sold before 1954, only notation is `sold to Me Cen' in the B&M 1947-1954 Equipment Book.
--Around 1992 the Providence & Worcester RR purchased her and renumbered her TC-401 and by 2004 she had a Detroit 6-71 diesel engine.

On her frame as the paint flakes off there is a ghost of lettering appearing _____S_D Co. and in another location _3301 (possibly X3301).

So we are trying to find out what part of the Maine Central she went to and what her number was, did she go somewhere else between MCRR & P&WRR? We are also looking for photos of her in all her paint schemes with the exception of P&WRR (we have plenty of those). Would also like to know when she got upgraded to Diesel.

I have tried the B&M Historical society which is where I got the B&M info, but haven't found anyone for Maine Central.

Thanks,
Rich C.

Here is what I have from the American Hoist & Derrick records:

2157 25 ton 04-47 Gas
Boston & Maine RR Boston, MA
Providence & Worcester RR Woonsocket, RI 1981

I have a contact at American & Ohio and will see what else I can find.

John,

No need to call American Ohio, have already mined their records and have scan of job order book entry, list of drawings, and order sheet, along with Operator's Instructions & Lube Manual. Seems like a bunch of great people up there.

If it wasn't for the "J" order number I would not have known if this was an American or Ohio crane. From now on please specify that it is an American.

You are right. If it was an Ohio it would be a Model E.

John T,

"F" is listed after some items. What does that designate?

BTW, RMNE has Portland Terminal 198, built 1954 by American, I think it's an 825. PT Co. was jointly-owned by B&M and MEC. I suspect 198 is very similar to these B&M cranes.
