Sorry about that Rob,
We are in the market for some passenger locomotives, and I saw mention and just brought it up.

I suppose the biggest issues with the Blue Comet cars is, where can they go, and what will it take to get them there?

If we do go after the F unit(s), I will have to spend lots of time in the area getting them interchangeable. I have a single car tester and air brake knowledge, I would be willing to do the COT&S on the cars while I am there for the prospective organization that is obtaining the cars. I'll even donate the brake hoses. Again, that's if a home is secured for them, and I wind up being in the area anyway. But it is what I can offer.

A home is secured for them and ownership is not changing. They have been owned by the URHS of New Jersey and will be moved (money permitting) to their site to join the Blue Comet Observation car that has been painted back to Blue Comet livery.

Well that is good to know! Hopefully they won't have much trouble moving them.

Adam,

No need for "sorry," I find it interesting. I used to get bothered over thread creep, but realised that's somewhat ridiculous in conversational forums.

And heck, it's not like saving F-units is a bad thing! It would be great to see them find a home.

The last time I saw them running was probably 7 years ago or so on the Salem, NJ line. That route had the worst in-service "main" that I have seen since the grand era of 1970's deferred maintenance. Made for a slow chase, and I intentionally kept myself and my car far enough back to avoid any unpleasantries should the train have decided to walk off into the weeds.

Rob

derail, Adam was talking about the F-7's, NOT the coaches. Those F's were never owned by the URHS. They have the LV replicas, which were recently leased and moved out of S Jersey.

The two at Winslow don't have a new home, as far as I know. It's been many years since I've been down to Winslow, so I'm not exactly sure where they're stored, but I can hazard a guess.

I hope that Lehigh Valley parlor car is saved and restored. Considering there are maybe five or six surviving LV passenger cars left, this car may be the most rare item there.
