The Black River Railroad Historical Trust has entered into an agreement with the BRW RR to re-rehabilitate the Alexauken Division.

The Alexauken division is the line that connect Ringoes, NJ to Lambertville, NJ. This is the former PRR Flemington Branch which ran from Lambertville to Flemington.

Here is a the link to a wonderful page about the project, with some historical photos.

Please pass this along to any friends or groups that may be interested in learning about and/or supporting the project.

Thanks,

Scott Kwiatkowski

Question:

Is the trackage in question still owned by the (for-profit) BR&W railroad? Or has the entire RR gone non-profit and I missed the memo?

I now find it hard to believe that I once chased BR&W 60 and train to Lambertville......

Yes the trackage is still owned by BRW which is for profit. The BRRHT is a nonprofit entity that operates and maintains the tourist passenger excursions.

I rode behind 60 to Lamberville and I'm only 28 so unless you are speaking of the track condition I don't understand your comment on chasing that part of the line in the past.

Very cool! If ironwork is needed on the other bridges, let me know.

This is fantastic news. One of my most pleasant memories is riding this line from Ringoes to Flemington on their doodlebug with my family in the early 80's. My 3-year old daughter sat on the engineer's lap and was allowed to blow the horn! I don't think insurance concerns would allow that today.

Good news for this railroad. Hopefully their track expansion project goes well. I was recently there this past summer with my folks during the 2014 TCA Convention. Here are some of my videos:

The "Alexauken division" is now open to a new platform at Bowne Station, a 2.5 mile trip from Ringoes.

Keep checking the website for new events at the new stop.

I'm proud to be part of the small team of volunteers who repaired this stretch of railroad in less than two years.
