It has come to my attention, that for some reason the equipment at Burnham Yard which is owned by Marcus Rail and The Museum of Railway Workers has been offered for donation or sale by entities that don't own it.

The equipment is still owned by those entities and is NOT for sale or donation. I'm sorry if you were confused by the offer.

I was not aware of the confusion earlier otherwise I would have tried to clarify it sooner.

Thank you for the post, is this near the South Shore or somewhere else, as they have a "Burnham Yard" and I am just curious what equipment is there of this concern just for the record of information. thanx!

I believe it's the Denver & Rio Grande Western's Burnham yard/shops which was recently shut down and dismantled by UP last year. There is a string of former Rio Grande maintenance cars and a GP30 there.

However, hopefully some clarification can come from this. Having never heard of the Museum of Railroad Workers or Marcus Rail, I tried to find info about them. Both have facebook pages, run by the same person, and both have website links that go nowhere (the domains are unregistered). So...can anyone verify that these are legitimate preservation organizations?

Josh,

I'm sorry I have not completed the web page yet.

The companies have been around for quite some time. Marcus Rail since 1998 and The Museum since 2001. I would not have expected you to know of them since you are located in a different state.

I have been collecting Rio Grande equipment since 1997 and storing them under lease at Burnham Yard. I was impacted when the yard was closed. The cars there are owned by the two companies. I assure you the companies are real and of good standing.

They do also own the equipment at Burnham Yard and if you have heard otherwise, I sorry but they were mistaken. I'm also sorry if this may have impacted any plans you had. The equipment will not be donated or sold.

If there is still uncertainty, please look up the reporting marks

MCRX - Macus Rail Transport

DRGX - Museum of Railway Workers

You will notice in any photos that these reporting marks are on the cars at Burnham Yard.

It seems my curiosity was misinterpreted. I had no intention or plans of doing anything with your collection, was just interested in a secondary validation of the reality of your companies since there is no physical representation apart from the facebook pages.

While I do live in Utah, I am aware of hundreds of preservation organizations outside of my state, and peripherally involved with about a dozen, including a few in Colorado...geographical location has nothing to do with my knowledge of the industry, but rather how well the organizations promote or explain their existence.

What is good about this is you have cleared up the rumors that the equipment will be scrapped (I had never heard that they were being offered to anybody though).

Both Marcus Rail and The Museum of Railway Workers are registered with the Colorado Secretary of State. Marcus Rail http://tinyurl.com/ycvq86cw There are three links to The Museum of Railway Workers, use the search at http://tinyurl.com/oxc6ck6 to find them.

No dog in this hunt, by the way.
