If anyone has access to a Plymouth Loco Works construction list the Museum of Transportation in St. Louis is trying to fully identify a 30-ton industrial loco in our collection. It was built in 1942 for the War Dept (US Army) as its #7581, construction number 4449, and we believe it may be a model ML. But is it an ML6 or ML8? It has been re-engined and came to us from Majistic Building Materials. It is a two axle (B) switcher with mechanical drive. It arrived in 1972 and was last used at Eureka, MO.

PLW #4449 is an ML-8. It was built with a LeRoi Model RX1V engine. 2004c.i.d. V-8 gas hog. 6 3/4" bore by 7" stroke. 250 HP @ 1000 RPM. It left the factory on November 9, 1942.

Thanks for the info. We're redoing our roster booklet and keep finding gaps in our knowledge. Can anyone tell us where to find a builder's photo for this batch of locos? A book or magazine reference would do.
