Myself and our Curator, Bradley Smith are deep in the throes of researching and writing comprehensive histories of every piece of equipment in the RRMPA collection (113 pieces excluding loan-ins) for our General Conservation Survey plan. If anyone has any unforeseen documentation, paperwork, photographs or information on the individual histories of our vehicles that you would like to share (for duplicating purposes of course), we would love to hear from you. You'll receive credit in the report for your assistance. I apologize that this is a very vague BROAD BRUSH type of query--Brad and I have combed every file, and every nook and cranny in the museum and are left hungry for more. We would very much appreciate hearing from the Rypn community.

Here at the Maritime Park, we have historic structure reports on most of our major ships. After several years of using them, we find that there is always some other document out there.

For example a construction drawing for the ex Western Pacific RR tug HERCULES just turned up! Wouldn't it have been great to have had that,when the HSR was first written.

Did you find anything on the operational history of your RDC car? I think it was ex Reading? It is a great contrast to the other steam locos in the yard!

I'll jump ahead of Kurt here awhile. RMPA's RDC is displayed as LV 40, its original owner and number. LV had two RDC's, 40 and 41 and they ran as a Lehighton-Hazleton shuttle meeting the Main Line trains at Lehighton. 41 was sold early on.

After LV dropped passenger service in 1961, they sold car 40 to the Reading which was receiving 12 new RDC's at the time. 40 became RDG 9163 and ran as such into the Conrail era, until a transit authority terminated all the ex-RDG diesel service. The NRHS chapters then bought 9163 for the RMPA.
