Just an old photo of the roundhouse where I worked for 20 years, before that *&%^$#@ bunch from Texas bought our Central Vermont Railway. Buildings were there last I knew, though the bunkroom (at left, the stores department for the motive power department when the photo was taken) was unused and endangered.

This was a USRA engine from the Grand Trunk New England Lines, a CN subsidiary like the CV. GT engines were often overhauled in St. Albans.

This was a P5a 0-8-0, identical in design to the former GTW 8300, which last I knew was still stored derelict at Galt, Illinois by Illinois Railway Museum.

Bob, I couldn't get those photos to load. Those look like Yahoo Group URLs, are the photos intended for members of that group only? If so, which group?

Northwestern Steel & Wire 0-8-0 no. 30 (GTW 8300) was moved a couple years ago to the Buchanan County Visitor Center in Independence, Iowa. Last I heard, P-5b no. 05 (GTW 8305) and P-5g 74 (GTW 8374) remain on the siding in Galt. It would be nice to see one of them in New England masquerading as a CV or GT New England Lines engine. The purists might cringe, but better that than rusting away where they are now.

These were in the Central Vermont Railway group of Yahoo. I think they were in the Scott Whitney file under files. The 8300 was the only remaining GTW 0-8-0 that was the same as the CV's, the others were a bit different, though not greatly so.

Here's another one for you Bob. Central Vermont 0-8-0 #501 is pictured in Brattleboro in October of 1954. Unfortunately the builder and class is not noted, but this looks longer and less husky than the GT engines. Along with the CV stuff, I've found some Grand Trunk (NE) steam as well (which I'll be scanning). Maybe I'll come across some familar faces.
