So the infamous train car in Grand Central that was supposedly used to carry Franklin Roosevelt's armored car or though we all know that is bull s*** has been moved out of storage and it's supposedly going to the Danbury Railroad Museum. Wonderful put a sign explaining its fake history.

They need to get a 1930's limo to stick in there. With a vintage wheelchair in the back.

What is the car’s actual history?

As I recall, this is a run of the mill NYC 60 foot baggage car that was later put into MOW service. It was the tool car that accompanied GCT-1, a double ended wrecker, on its rounds. GCT-1 is preserved at the Danbury museum so it'll be nice to reunite the two.

This may be the most famous baggage car in history.

Perhaps they will also donate the old NYC Troop Sleeper that is being used for storage in Grand Central?

I tried to find it when I was in NYC last month, but I unfortunately got my track numbers mixed up (it is on track 102, not track 120). Oh well, another time!

It was a baggage car that was used as part of a MOW train. It even still has some cables in it for the wrecker.

I have always been told all of the (former MTA/Metro North) equipment at Danbury is not actually owned by them, but on long term lease due to the MTA not being able to donate out of state.

Can anyone confirm this?

Ah, I was wondering why the crane was listed as being leased from Metro North. Here is the museum's listing on the crane:
